Mid Century 01 | Custom Architectural Garage Door
Mid Century Modern garage doors should follow the essence of minimalistic and functional design. This flush, smooth panel garage door was a modern upgrade for this Cliff May Mid Century style home. The center support post is merely an optical illusion that simulates two separate single-car garage doors but, in reality, it is one double-car garage door that slides up and down behind the post. Using the horizontal garage door panel design broke the monotony of the vertical slat siding throughout the home. A subtle satin smooth finish on the garage door also created a texture contrast against the rough siding of the house. Small details can mean a lot and that is why our Mid Century garage doors are designed accordingly.
The purpose of this garage door upgrade was to provide ease of use while preserving the essence of Cliff May’s Mid Century architectural design. Without disturbing much of the originality of this Mid Century gem, we were able to design, craft and install a garage door that worked with the aesthetic past of home with the convenience of today’s garage doors. As with all of our custom garage doors, this simple designed overhead door is fully insulated, whisper quiet and easily operated manually or with an activating device. Our love of Mid Century Modern architectural door design is exquisitely evident in our work.
